Wrestling trading cards have been
around for more than 100 years.
From the late 1800s to the early
1900s, wrestling trading cards were
primarily distributed as tobacco
cards. Often times, classic tobacco
cards featured many sports figures
and amung them would be several
wrestling superstars. During the late
1800s, wrestling stars were
considered some of the best athletes
in the world.
Through the early 1900s, many
tobacco cards featured some of the
time's top wrestling stars. The first
real trading card set devoted to
wrestling exclusively was in 1954 with
the Parkhurst Company (and did so
again in 1956). All through the 1980s
several wrestling card sets were
produced by Topps Inc, Classic,
Monty Gum, Wonderama and others.
Throughout the 1990s, collectors
were treated to a plethora of
wrestling trading cards from some
companies such as Action Packed,
Comic Images, Topps Inc. and many
others.
Today, wrestling trading cards can
be found at your local comic book
shop, sports card shop or over the
Internet. Here we have tried to
provide you with checklists to help
you find what you need or let you
know what you have. Use the links on
the right to help you locate the card
set you want to see. We have sorted
cards by year, which we find to be
much easier to navigate.
